Reader Question of the Week: What’s the Publication Date for The Politics of Fear (The Compact Cycle 1)?

A helpful question this week from Kale H. in Rome, NY:

Is there a firm release date for Politics of Fear? I see conflicting information. June? July? Next year?

Thank you for being here, Kale, and for inviting me to clear the air on this one. I’ve thrown a lot of potential release dates around, and Google has scraped all those conflicting statements up into a hodgepodge of misinformation. If you’re using Google’s AI responses to get information on the HTP release calendar, then you’re likely to stumble into a hallucination or two.

The best place to get up-to-date information about future releases is right here in this newsletter. I’ll always keep y’all up-to-date about changes to the calendar. Once a galley goes out to the printer, the release date becomes finalized. At that point, you should be able to find the correct release date in a variety of places, including Amazon, Goodreads, and the HTP website.

I apologize for the confusion about The Politics of Fear. For those SF fans patiently awaiting the launch of this epic space opera, the wait will be just a tiny bit longer than first predicted. I originally set a tentative release date for June 9, 2025, but this was pending progress on a few other projects, including The Mark of Cain and What Lies Between. I’ve since bumped The Politics of Fear back to a July 7, 2026 release date. This one should hold.

Ironically, the delay is actually a result of strong progress on What Lies Between. I was able to move that book up from August to May 2026, and I didn’t want the release to crowd The Politics of Fear. The push behind this book will be at a much bigger scale than the preceding releases. It’s a much bigger book (210,000 words in current draft), and it will be our first hardcover release. It’s also a series that I anticipate having wide market appeal, so I want to give it every chance to get into the right hands.

I’ll have more information on the series early next year, but for now, you can mark July 9 (in pencil) on your calendar as the likely release date.
