Progress Report: What Lies Between, Ophiuchus Flinched, and The Mark of Cain

Working hard at writing cartoon

Ardent WIngs on Jealous Skies is heading into the post-release marketing phase just as Seven Days of Mercy for the Apostatic Priest enters the active pre-release phase. Just a few days after Ardent Wings hits shelves, we’ll be sending out ARCs for Seven Days of Mercy. If you’re not already on our ARC team and you’d like to request an early review copy, just send us an email at [email protected] with links to your social media or Goodreads accounts. We’re happy to provide these free Ebooks in exchange for honest reviews 🙂

And because time only moves in one direction, we’re already gearing up for the release of the sequel to Ardent Wings on Jealous Skies. Book 2 in the Tales of Ciel, Ophiuchus Flinched, is set for publication on February 6–hot on the heels of Seven Days of Mercy. You won’t have to hang from the cliff at the end of Ardent Wings for long. Series artist Zefanya Maega is almost finished with the final cover art for Ophiuchus Flinched, and it looks just as stunning as the painted cover they produced for Ardent Wings. I’m looking to partner with a few BookTube and BookTok content creators for that cover reveal, so stay tuned for more announcements about that one in the very near future.

At HTP, we’re serious about our mission to deliver epic fantasy and science fiction on an expedited timeline without sacrificing quality. We think this strategy is ultimately what will distinguish our series in a very competitive market. That’s why we’ve set up our editorial pipeline to handle multiple projects at once. I may write all the words, but we have dedicated developmental editors, proofreaders, and designers working on each series. While I’m writing What Lies Between, designers and artists are working on the galley for Ophiuchus Flinched and a developmental editor is deep in the weeds on The Politics of Fear. It’s a complicated juggling act, but so far it’s working as planned. By the end of the year, I’ll pass What Lies Between to the developmental editor working on The Divine Heretic series and turn my attention to the polish draft of The Politics of Fear. Meanwhile, Zefanya will move straight into the art for The Mark of Cain, while Aicel continues working on the art for What Lies Between and The Divine Heretic Book 3: A Myrtle Among Thorns. And on and on into infinity.
