Thank you all for being a part of this adventure in indie publishing. When I launched HTP back in March, it seemed like a big hill to climb to assemble a new brand from nothing and prepare 8 titles for publication in Year 1. We’re now on the precipice of our first release, and I am truly humbled by the community we’ve built together. To mark this grand occasion, here are some fun stats about High Trestle Press and Ardent Wings on Jealous Skies.
- The HTP Newsletter has grown to 1200+ subscribers and 700+ engaged subscribers
- 900+ readers have downloaded the extended preview of Ardent Wings on Jealous Skies
- 250+ readers, reviewers, and content creators have requested or downloaded the ARC
- Pre-release, the book has already been reviewed by 4 professional publications (IPR, SPR, Foreword, and Kirkus)
- 11 readers have reviewed the book across platforms, and 30+ readers have added it to shelves
- Pre-release, Ardent Wings on Jealous Skies stands at an average rating of 4 stars on Goodreads (Still time to rate us if you haven’t yet!)
These are all very encouraging signs for an indie book–especially an indie book from a new author and a new press. For the sake of transparency, we fell a little short of our KPIs for pre-release reader reviews (we were hoping for 20), but we blazed through our KPIs for subscribers (goal was 700) and extended preview downloads (goal was 300).
All of these efforts will help inform our next release. We should be able to make an even more intelligent push behind Seven Days of Mercy for the Apostatic Priest (available for pre-order) and we now have a much more targeted ARC team for the forthcoming release of Ophiuchus Flinched (February 6, 2026).
For Ardent Wings on Jealous Skies and HTP writ large, tomorrow is more of a beginning than a destination. I hope you all enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed writing it. Tell your friends about it. Give it as a gift this holiday season. HTP paperbacks make great stocking stuffers. And as of tomorrow, reviews will be open at all points of purchase, so hop online and tell the world what you thought. We’re off to a great start, but we need to keep the momentum going to keep the series top of mind and top of algorithm.
