The wilds are inevitable, and so they are patient

Ruxindra l’Maer finds herself the reluctant guardian of Luka, the G-dling child she was once sworn to destroy. Fleeing the wrath of her Apostatic Priesthood, she leads her unlikely band of pilgrims east across the Karioch Sea in pursuit of Luka’s Tree of Sephirot.

But an ancient barrier bars her path. The dauntless Teeth of Old Mysin guard the mouth of the Neleost Bay, still as stubborn as the day they were forged. To buy passage for her party, Ruxindra enters the service of an old acquaintance, Abdi W’alla Eskandar, a former pirate enjoying a wealthy retirement after conquering the fortress presiding over The Teeth.

An investigation into a band of Eskandar’s missing armsmen reveals a new threat mustering in the marshlands. Ruxindra sets out to untangle the conflict brewing in the marsh, while Luka grapples with the realization that some souls may be beyond salvation.
