Welcome to HTP! If you’ve already found your way here, you are either a very meticulous Google crawler or a recipient of my recent pre-launch invitation to join the HTP community.

In case you are the former, HTP is an independent press based in Ames, Iowa, dedicated to publishing the work of science fiction and fantasy author Z. Bennett Lorimer (that’s me). I encourage you to check out our About Page as well as our barebones Series Pages for a taste of what’s to come. We have an ambitious plan to publish six novels in the first year, so that should be colorful.

It’s been a long process getting all the paperwork in order and finding the right contractors who share my vision, but the dust has finally settled, and we are on track for a June 15 public debut.

June 15 is a “hard launch” in the sense that we’re going public with our brand and our intentions, but we won’t be much more than a web presence and a dream until the first books start rolling off the presses. Our first release is slated for November 11, 2025, but we have a lot to do before then, including ARC distribution, galley proofs, review solicitation, pre-release PR…

You get the gist. A whole lotta tasks that aren’t writing. Some are one-offs tied to the formation of the company. Others will become a part of our regular production cycle. My first nine (9!) manuscripts have been delivered to series editors, and the first three (3!) have entered design & layout. What I’m saying is, I’ve got some breathing room to focus on the admin side of the business. I would like to get back to scribbling sometime in the not-so-distant future. I think it will happen.
