You’ll always be able to order HTP books through local and independent bookstores, but getting these stores to actually stock and shelve copies is an uphill climb–at least for now. Shelf space is very limited, and independent bookstores typically operate on razor-thin margins. It’s a big risk to shelve a small press or a new author, when that space could easily be given to a more established best-seller from a major house. 

That’s why I wanted to shout out Dog-Eared Books located on Main Street in Ames, IA. My local shop took a leap of faith with me and ordered copies of Ardent Wings on Jealous Skies for their inventory. You’ll be able to find it in the fantasy section right next to all the heavy hitters. I plan to stop by at some point the week of December 1 to sign their stock, so if you live near Ames and want to support an incredible bookstore, Dog-Eared is the place to go.
